Welcome to Sparrows Nest Childminding Services

I have been an Ofsted registered (number 114989) childminder for over thirty years, I work with my husband to offer a safe and nurturing environment and have worked through many changes in childcare legislation and how it is delivered. My ethos for young children is that they should feel safe, loved and valued, learning through play at a level that is relevant to their age and ability.

We provide a mixture of activities and outings to create a learning environment promoting their physical, emotional and educational development within the structure of the EYFS. This includes, but is not limited to, swimming, visiting toddler groups, indoor soft play centres, farms, the beach and wood lands. We believe that spending time outdoors is very important - connecting with the natural world enriches childrens lives and I have undertaken forest school training to support this. We visit either the beach or woods on a weekly basis as well as regular trips to our local RSPB reserve and Arundel wetlands where they can experience pond dipping, bug hunts and exploring the environment.

At home we have an all year round outdoor play area where the children can experience sand, water and mud kitchen, play on bikes, trikes and in a den. We also keep chickens which the children are welcome to feed and help collect the eggs. Indoors there are a wide range of toys, books, games and puzzles plus children have access to craft materials, paint and play with musical instruments.

I hold a certificate in Early Years Practice, an NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and I previously achieved a Level 3 in the Pacey (formerly NCMA) Quality Assurance Scheme. I am also part of the Magic Minders Childminding Support Group. We regularly update our paediatric first aid, child protection and food hygiene certificates as part of my commitment to providing good quality childcare.

Our mission is to provide a safe, caring and welcoming environment where children will feel happy and secure whilst away from their own family. We offer them the opportunity to develop their independence and life skills, exploring, experiencing adventures and socialising with their peers.

We offer our services without prejudice and any special requirements should be discussed and will be catered for if and when possible.
